A little bit of our history...

At Katherine

Kyogle Coaches was started in 1949, and the business was taken over by Max Simes in 1970, to be later bought by Bob Justice a decade later. It was purchased by Peter Mazzer in 1990 - at that time it compromised of a shed at Geneva, in Kyogle, with 3 school buses, one of which could be used for Charter. In 1994 Peter fully retired, leaving the running of the business to his sons, Stephen, Richard and Roger, and their families. Over the next 15 years the business was expanded to four school runs and two coaches. In February 2005 the Bus shed and school buses were sold to Wallers Bus Co., and Richard and his wife Karen took over the Coach side of the business, changing its name to Mazzer's Coaches. For easier housing and servicing, a new shed was built next to their home on Runnymede Road in Kyogle.

Mazzers have been in this area since the turn of the century, having came to Australia with the New Italy Mob near Woodburn.

The current and recent owners are:

Peter Mazzer - born Kyogle - retired to a life of leisure in Ballina - happily married to Shirley Mazzer. Both enjoy Lawn Bowls, a bit of fishing, and a little travelling.

Stephen Mazzer - born Lismore - schooling Ballina & Lismore - started as an apprentice Plant (Diesel) Mechanic in 1978 with the DMR - was the chief maintenance person for our fleet. In March 2005 Stephen purchased the Doug Campbell Saw Works (Ph 6632 1619 - for mowers, chainsaw or pump sales or repairs, give him a call).

Richard Mazzer - born Lismore - schooling in Lismore - did an apprenticeship as a Boilermaker/Welder in Newcastle - worked around Australia and overseas for numerous years until he joined the company in 1992. He married Karen Mazzer (ne. Ross), and together they have one child, Jacob. Karen is the secretary and a partner in Mazzer's Coaches.

Roger Mazzer - born in Ballina - schooling in Lismore - did an apprenticeship as a Boilermaker/Welder at Ballina Slipways - worked locally and for 12 months in Scotland until 1992 when he joined the company. Roger now works for Bordins in Kyogle as a foreman in their Cattle Yards manufacturing business.

As you can see, we are a true product of the area.
